Wyatt Construction Begins New Project at Ft. Campbell, Ky., as part of the SBA's Mentor Protege Program

Birmingham, Ala. --  Hoover based Gary C. Wyatt, Inc., with its Protege partner, Infinite, Inc.,  were awarded a new $8 million  construction project to build the new chapel on Ft. Campbell’s army base.  The project is part of the United States Small Business Administration’s Mentor Protégé program.

 

The SBA Mentor-Protégé program enhances the ability of its participants to compete more successfully for federal government contracts.  The program also encourages private-sector relationships and expands SBA’s efforts to identify and respond to the developmental needs of clients. Mentors provide technical and management assistance, financial assistance in the form of equity investments and/or loans, subcontract support and assistance in performing prime contracts through joint venture arrangements with eligible firms.  The program is offered under SBA’s 8(a) Business Development program serving disadvantaged firms.

 

“As a mentor in the SBA program it allows us to mentor and work with firms in a partnership that is mutually beneficial for all parties involved,” said Gary C. Wyatt, president.  “These joint venture programs allow us to provide guidance and give us the opportunity to work on projects we might otherwise not have been involved with.”

 

Gary C. Wyatt, Inc. began the project with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Oct. 21 and expects it to be completed by December 2011.  Ft. Campbell is the home of the only Army Air Assault division in the world, 101st Airborne Division.
